Composite Bonding

A nice man smiling

Bonding is a simple process that can be completed within a single visit to our office in as less as half an hour. The procedure begins by applying a dental etching gel to the surface of the tooth to be bonded. The etching gel is then rinsed off and a composite resin whose shade matches with the natural shade of your teeth is painted on to the tooth in layers. Each layer is dried using a dental curing light before painting on the next one. Once the desired thickness has been achieved with several layers, the bonding material is shaped and buffed to give it a natural look and a final polish is done to finish off the procedure.

Teeth that have undergone the bonding process can be cared for just like your natural teeth by regular brushing, flossing and biannual dental cleanings at our office. It is important to understand that bonded teeth are more prone to staining, so one should avoid the consumption of tobacco, coffee, tea, wine etc. Also, if you wish to undergo teeth whitening, it is recommended to do it before your bonding procedure. One should also avoid biting or chewing on hard objects such as pens, ice etc.
